Greg Pattillo has been a music educator since he opened his first teaching studio in 1999.  Since the success of his youtube videos, Greg has found an international audience eager to learn more about Beatbox Flute, and the intriguing possibilities of the flute as a rhythm instrument. Both as a solo artist and as the flutist for the PROJECT Trio, Greg has made an impact on students of all ages with both private lessons and group classes.

As a clinician, Mr. Pattillo offers the following classes:

Private lessons are always available, both in Brooklyn and on the road.  Please contact Greg to schedule a lesson and check the schedule to see if he is coming near where you live.

Beatbox Flute 101  -  This is a fully interactive class, with everyone in attendance encouraged to bring a flute and play throughout the class.  We cover the three basic beatbox sounds, how to make them, how to sound them with the flute, and learn to play tunes that use these techniques.

Rhythm and Pulse  -  This is a fully interactive class and can be taught to all musicians and non-musicians alike. Instead of using our instruments, we use our bodies to experience music and movement throughout the full space of the classroom.  Inspired by Dalcroze Eurythmics, this class explores personal pulse, cross rhythms, on and off beats, cosmic whole notes, ensemble rhythm machines, syncopations, canons and metronomes!

Improvise Together  -   This is a fully interactive class, with everyone in attendance encouraged to bring a flute and play throughout the class.  We learn a fundamental approach to improvisation, through arrangements featuring long-tones/drones, harmony, melody, beatbox techniques and vamps.  Everyone improvises, and everyone plays together.  If group size is small enough, we can break apart into mini groups so that each group uses the topics discussed during class to write and perform a new work they compose themselves.

Soloist/Ensemble Masterclass -  Traditional masterclass setting: performance and discussion with multiple participants.  Traditional repertoire or modern arrangements/compositions welcome.
